Types of SEO

Types of SEO

The Three Core Types of SEO
1. Technical SEO,
2. On-Page SEO,
3. Off-Page SEO.
I. TECHNICAL SEO

The foundation. It refers to the optimization of the website infrastructure to meet the requirements of search engines. Without solid technical SEO, other aspects of SEO will bear limited fruit, as search engines will not be able to read and interpret the website’s content correctly.
Some of the most important areas of technical SEO include:

Crawlability – making sure that search engines can “see” the website (robots.txt, site structure),
Indexing – ensuring that web pages are added to the search engine’s index (correct use of noindex tags, avoidance of duplicate content),
Website speed – optimized HTML code and reduced media sizes for faster loading,
Mobile-friendliness – responsive design,
Proper site architecture,
HTTPS encryption,
Schema markup – providing additional context for search engines regarding the type of information on a given page.

The analogy: technical SEO is similar to the foundation and technical systems (plumbing, electricity) of a house – one cannot see them, but they are essential for the house to function.

2. On – Page SEO

The Content. It deals with optimizing the content and HTML source code of each page to rank higher and get more relevant traffic.

Focus Areas:

Conducting keyword research and using the right keywords in the content.
Producing high-quality, informative, and relevant content. Having the best content possible is important to satisfy the users and attract the audience to the website.
Writing descriptive page titles and meta descriptions. Having an effective page title and description will improve the click-through rates.
Organizing the content using header tags. It will make the content easy to skim through and good for the user experience.
Having a clean URL structure. It will be easier both for the users and search engines to understand the URL.
Optimizing the images. The file name and alt text should indicate what the image is about.
Using internal linking to relevant pages. Linking to other pages within the same site will help the users to find related content and improve the website structure.

Comparison: On – Page SEO is like furnishing each room in the house. It makes it more attractive and comfortable for people to stay.

3. Off-Page SEO

The Reputation. This is the work done outside your site to aid your site’s authority, trust, and rankings. And the most important part of this is link building.

Main Areas Of Focus

Link Building (Backlinks): Getting hyperlinks from other sites to yours. This is vital to gaining authority in the eyes of Google.

Social Signals: While not a direct ranking factor, sharing your content online helps get more exposure, and in turn, can get you backlinks.

Online Mentions & Brand Signals: Having your brand mentioned online (and having people link to it) is important for brand recognition.

Local SEO Listings: For local businesses, this entails claiming your Google Business Profile, along with other listing sites (Yelp, Bing, etc.).

The Analogy: You can think of off-page SEO as the reputation of your house on your street. Getting good reviews, having your friends say they love it, and having a nice yard will get people to consider visiting you more often.

Other Important Classifications

Apart from the three aforementioned types there are also other classifications based on which SEO services are divided. Below are the types of SEO that relate to specific aspects of the task:

1. Local SEO

Otherwise known as the Local Pack optimization, this type of SEO is aimed at securing the best possible position in the local pack, or the Local Map. The three most relevant businesses that appear in the “Map” section are labeled as the Local Pack. It focuses on the optimization of a business to make it easier to find in a specific area. The primary SEO tasks encompass optimizing the Google Business Profile and engaging in local citation building and local backlink generation.

2. International SEO

International SEO deals with international searches and the optimization of a website so that it appears in the search results for different countries and regions. It is mainly focused on expanding business on an international level and requires appropriate language, content, and regional URL choices.

3. E-A-T & YMYL SEO

This classification does not exactly fall under the types of SEO but rather relates to the primary concepts that are considered during the SEO process. For the majority of SEO types (with the exception of Technical SEO), the primary emphasis is placed on E-A-T and YMYL. E-A-T stands for Experience, Authority, and Trust, which are factors that Google uses as quality indicators of a page or website.

When it comes to YMYL, it is an acronym for “Your Money or Your Life” and refers to the topics that have a substantial impact on one’s financial well-being or physical and mental health. For such subjects as financial advice, medical advice, legal advice, and any other areas that require thorough consideration before acting, the E-A-T principles are applied in greater detail.

Visual Summary: Types of SEO

Imagine a funnel – that’s the three types of SEO working in tandem. Take a look:

Technical SEO is all about making sure search engines can FIND your site

On-Page SEO is about search engines UNDERSTANDING your content and users finding it valuable

And Off-Page SEO is about getting other sites to point to yours, telling Google that your content is TRUSTWORTHY.

These three areas are crucial for any SEO campaign, and neglecting any of them will significantly hurt your results.
